Ripple Retreat
This Temporary Retreat Hotel is designed to instill a sense of tranquility and social connectivity for young adults in a physically distanced environment, as a means to prioritize their mental well-being.
Research Question: How can the sense of place enhance social connectivity and mental health in a physically-distanced school environment?
Lobby Render
The hotel lobby is the area in which students check in, lounge around, and socialize at safe distances.
Dining Hall Render
The dining hall is open to the lobby area, for students to feel more welcomed and feel excited to see the rest of the space.
Dining Hall Render
The inner part of the dining hall includes a glass facade for natural views from the surrounding body of water and daylight to enter the space. Young adults enjoy good food as well as each other's company.
Instagrammable Corner Render
The instagrammable corner is the first space visitors can see to their right when entering the space. This is a way to promote the hotel and to make it stand out from others. Items and merchandise are sold to attract visitors.
